Fall For Holiday Bras Now!

With Fall upon us and holidays right around the corner, this is the perfect time to think about all that your bra wardrobe should be offering you. Sexy, Sexy, Sexy! From dinner parties to family photos, we've got to make sure that our girls are in place and looking good in the process. There is just something about the holidays that makes you wanna get on your a game and be that "bad chick" that you think of in your head. Don't you agree?

Having trouble wrapping your head around the cost of such bras? Start planting the seed with loved ones to give you gift cards for the holidays (and perhaps an early gift so you can start wearing now). It's worth the investment (and/or the begging)! I mean really, what good does it do you trying to suck in every once of fat below the bust line if you are just going to let those boobs hang down over top of that not so comfortably sucked in stomach? You're cutting off your circulation for nothing! After all, no one is going to see that flattened tummy hidden beneath low boobies.

Ladies, the first and most important piece of shape wear in your wardrobe is your bra. It can take off  5 or more pounds, lift, sculpt and separate. And you won't need to hold your breath while you have it on! So start with your bra. If you want to hide and tuck a bit more after that, knock yourself out. But do not let all of your efforts go to waste. An unkempt bust line is definitely more noticeable than a bit of extra love and happiness around the waistline. ;-)

So explain this to me. If you are a customer who clearly came out prepared to shop in a high end department store, what would keep you from shopping for the things that you actually need once you are enlightened?

I wonder this every time I fit a woman who happens to to be in the wrong size (as 85% of women are). Clearly, if I fit you and you end up in something that looks, fits and feels good, (which you know that you do not have at home), what would posses you to take just one? I mean, how far is that really going to get you? You guessed it: not very far at all. There is a purpose for a basic bra wardrobe. Bras stretch, never shrink. So if you are wearing the same bra day in and day out, do not expect it to last forever. Even in the best care it probably won't last you more than a year based on an average woman's wardrobe. You must Rotate and you must Replace.

I once had a fit client who shared with me that she hadn't purchased a bra in five years. Five Years!! (I screamed in my mind). If it wasn't so stretched out, that bra would've run, not walked away from those boobs! And as if that wasn't enough, she proceeded to tell me that not only was this poor indentured servant of a bra five years old, she also SHARED it with her MOTHER!!!

And can you guess how many bras she took home with her that day??? Just ONE! Shocked, right??
Now as weird, gross and unpractical as this may seem, this woman isn't much different from so many others (aside maybe from the sharing with her mom). The bottom line is that bras have a life that expires and women expect way too much from their foundations (like the ability to last infinitely and be passed down to their daughters). I mean, they actually have a lot of work to do. If you wore one pair of shoes every day for a year, how well do you think it would hold up?

 Think of your bras as shoes for your breasts. They need to be replaced and rotated regularly. Certain ones work well with certain outfits. And quality is important. Besides, don't you want to look just as fresh under your clothes as you do fully dressed? Didn't your mom ever tell you to make sure that your undies were clean and matched in case you were in an accident? You never know what might happen. So, take precaution, take care and please, do take more than just one.

Sometimes we need to think about the great alternatives that our foundations can offer us. So I'm venting again. But I just do not understand how someone can come into an establishment known for providing the service of fitting bras, "challenge" me regarding a skill that I practice and implement (with pride and passion!), even outside of the workplace, and then proceed to tell me that I am wrong when it's simply just not what you want to hear. What's up with that?



From now on, I am going to go into my doctor and dentist offices, have them check me out and completely deny the diagnosis because clearly, I am a trained MD!

Now please, share your feedback with me because maybe I am wrong (or over-exaggerating as I am prone to). But would you, or any potential customer (or patient for that matter) ask a question of a professional (sans any sarcastic "inquiries") regarding an issue that you already knew the answer too? Isn't this a waste of every one's time? All I'm saying is-just come to grips with the way it is. Frankly, no one has to see the size but you, so it shouldn't matter if ultimately at the end of it all you look good. Contrary to popular belief, breasts do not exercise off as easily as fat, so we are not always in control of the size of our breasts. Stop trying to figure out how many pounds it will take to change your bra size because it just may not change! And do me a favor; if you already know so much then don't ask me...my time could be spent helping someone who is really interested. While I am typically an under wire girl myself, it's nice to know that there are non-wire options out there that can get the job done! There may be several reasons for wearing a soft cup bra, including surgery, extreme discomfort caused by wire (but hopefully not by an ill fit), as well as for just schlepping around. The options below run the gamut from a light mould (which offers great symmetry and modesty), to a three part cup (which will offer the most coverage, control and lift). As women, it is so important to see images of ourselves showcased in a positive, sexy light! If a company claims to produce product suited for true full busted women, then show me! And the most effective platform for showing me is print/photo advertisement. Doesn't this photo just make you feel beautiful before you even try this bra on?!!!

As a Fit Specialist, I cannot tell you how many times  I have encountered a woman who has said "You don't have anything here in my size". Au Contra ire! The proof is here baby!  The beautiful Asia Monet is sporting a 40 G and the Le Mystere Lace Tisha which she models so elegantly will accommodate a bust up to size 44H! Thanks Le Mystere for representing all women!

There are many brands out there that offer beautiful, functional  product for everyone. You just have to be willing to look in the right places or, ask someone who knows the right places to look (hint, hint: that would be me!). Our underpinnings are simply another layer that help us feel beautiful from the inside out, so make them count!
